Group Overview  

Special Air Missions Group (SAM) is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Special Mobility, and Aerial Firefighting (AFF) capabilities. SAM oversees the integration of new mission systems, ensuring operational readiness across specialized aviation operations. It manages fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships to enhance mission effectiveness. By consolidating expertise and infrastructure, SAM ensures Metrea’s airborne capabilities remain adaptable and mission-ready across dynamic operational environments. 

Position Summary  

This position is contingent upon contract award. Reporting to the Head of Flight Operations, the King Air Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) First Officer supports compliant, safe, reliable, effective, efficient, and evolvable flight operations in support of contracts with the U.S. Government, allies, and partners. The First Officer serves as Second in Command (SIC) on deployed, multi-sensor ISR missions, supporting the Captain and assigned mission crew to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and mission success in dynamic and contested environments. 

 

Role and Responsibilities 
 

  • Flight Planning and Execution. Assist in planning, briefing, executing, and debriefing ISR missions in accordance with Contractor Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contractual tasking, and all applicable FAA, ICAO, and host-nation regulations.
  • Crew Coordination. Support effective communication, crew resource management (CRM), and disciplined execution throughout all phases of flight and mission operations.
  • Safety and Risk Management. Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) by identifying hazards, supporting risk assessments, and implementing mitigation strategies in alignment with organizational safety culture.
  • Operational Readiness. Maintain required flight currency, medical qualification, and proficiency in assigned aircraft and mission systems; meet all training and qualification standards.
  • Aircraft Operations Support. Assist with aircraft preflight inspections, mission configuration, performance calculations, and coordination with maintenance personnel to ensure airworthiness and mission readiness.
  • Situational Awareness and Decision-Making. Maintain high situational awareness and exercise sound judgment in dynamic, deployed environments while supporting the Captain’s decision-making.
  • Communications and Reporting. Support in-flight and post-mission communications, documentation, and reporting requirements as directed by the Captain and operations leadership.
  • Professional Development. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, skill development, and progression toward increased operational responsibility.
  • Deployed Operations Support. Operate effectively in remote or austere environments and adapt to mission schedules, extended duty periods, and changing operational priorities as required.
  • Security and Compliance. Protect classified and sensitive information in accordance with U.S. Government and company security policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.

 

Skills and Experience  

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (any discipline) or a minimum of2+ years of equivalent aviation experience.
  • FAA Commercial Airplane Multi-Engine Land Certificate with Instrument Rating, or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • FAA First-or Second-Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum500hoursPilot in Command (PIC) time.
  • Minimum50hoursmulti-engine time.
  • At least1year of operational experience in civil or military aviation environments.
  • Solid understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), particularly 14 CFR Parts 61 and 91.
  • Working knowledge of Aviation Management Systems, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Skilled in aviation weather analysis, flight planning, and flight following tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Teams for external and internal coordination.
  • Applicants must meet all FAA records and background requirements, including an acceptable review of the FAA Pilot Records Database (PRD). 

 

Preferred: 

  • Previous experience in turbine and multi-engine aircraft.
  • Familiarity with BE-200 and/or BE-300aircraft.
  • FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI), Instrument Instructor (CFII), and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI); or graduate of a U.S. Military Flight Instructor Training Program.
  • Exposure to DCMA 8210.1D and CNAF M-3710.7 flight operations requirements.
  • Basic understanding of ISR Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and their application in deployed operations.
  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, negotiation, conflict management, and time management within mission-driven environments.
  • Prior experience supporting U.S. Government or allied ISR missions in austere or deployed settings highly desirable.
