OBJECTIVE

Assist SCBT in managing its flight operations and handling the responsibilities required of SCBT under any aircraft dry lease or other contracts in which professional pilot services are required by SCBT.  This position reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer of SCBT Financial Corporation or his designee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all SCBT policies and rules expected of its employees.
  • Manages and ensures compliance with the terms of the Dry Lease in effect between SCBT and the aircraft owner (Lessor).
  • Provides safe, comfortable, and efficient flight operations that are conducted in furtherance of SCBT’s business operations. 
  • Provides professional pilot services to the management, staff, employees, guests, and invitees of SCBT at times needed by SCBT.
  • Determines the airworthiness of aircraft leased by SCBT and exercises operational control on behalf of SCBT at all times relevant.
  • Determines that aircraft operations intended by SCBT can be safely accomplished in a timely manner, and conduct scheduling, preflight planning, ground handing and fueling of aircraft, coordinate any maintenance activities and inspections that may be required, interface with the Lessor on any maintenance or operational issues related to the aircraft, ensure compliance with appropriate FAA and TSA requirements and regulations for the aircraft and flight operations, coordinate catering, ground operations, and transportation as needed, and perform any other duties that are usual and customary for a professional corporate pilot.
  • Without compromising safety, seeks to purchase fuel in a manner that promotes economy and fuel savings on the part of SCBT.
  • Ensures that SCBT’s operations are conducted pursuant to Part 91 of the Federal Aviation Regulations and advises supervisor if there are any issues related to regulatory compliance, safety, or scheduling. 
  • If a flight cannot be conducted as planned for any reason (such as weather, maintenance, air traffic delays, etc.), coordinates with passengers and supervisor, and provides an estimated time of departure and arrival.
  • Works with supervisor to develop a means of scheduling the aircraft, flight time and duty limits, and calls schedule as needed.
  • Assists in retaining contract co-pilots for SCBT’s flight operations.
  • Prepares expense reports and other financial reports documenting the cost of operating the aircraft, as requested by supervisor.
  • Develops a manifest system to document the flight operations, including a passenger manifest, contact information for each person, times of arrival and departure, and ensures information is provided to a designee of your supervisor.
  • Maintain FAA Pilot Certificates, FAA Medical Certificate, and training required by the FAA and the insurer for the aircraft to maintain currency, at own expense.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • FAA Pilot Certificate
  • FAA Medical Certificate
  • Completion of required training by the FAA and the Insurer
