THE JOB:

The Aviation Safety & Drone Manager supports strategic safety leadership for MGM Flight Operations and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) under the guidance of the Director. This role ensures compliance with FAA regulations, manages UAS requests and approvals, and strengthens partnerships with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders.

In the Director’s absence, this leader will evaluate and approve or deny UAS requests in accordance with established policy and serve as a key decision-maker for stakeholders.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Conduct internal aviation safety audits and integrate findings into department training programs
  • Develop, review, and maintain safety, accident, injury, and incident reporting systems
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to UAS and flight operations
  • Provide leadership and guidance to UAS operators on airspace coordination, flight planning, and safety procedures
  • Manage communication with Corporate Safety, Security, aircrews, and local, state, and federal agencies
  • Support implementation of a comprehensive UAS and guest flight safety program across all MGM properties
  • Partner with the Director and Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to support international travel awareness and asset protection
  • Monitor travel security requirements for all company flights
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies and industry organizations to stay ahead of regulatory changes and best practices
  • Maintain accountability for Aviation department IT assets

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate with Part 107 endorsement required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 4+ years prior relevant experience in a job that requires accurate decision making under pressure
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Strong logistical decision-making skills related to safety, security, personnel, and cost
  • Experience in high-tempo aviation environments preferred (FAR Part 135, 91, or 121)
  • Strong knowledge of airspace coordination and aviation regulatory compliance
  • Ability to learn and apply TSA, DHS, and Customs & Immigration regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aviation dispatch/logistics systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service presence with executive-level professionalism
