Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday. Possible on-call for AOG (Aircraft on Ground) support after hours.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Piston Shop Manager leads the day-to-day operation of the Piston Shop, ensuring every project moves through on schedule, on budget, and in full compliance with FAA regulations. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will guide a team of A&P mechanics, keep work orders and customer communication on track, and remove the barriers that slow a shop down.
The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of aircraft maintenance processes, and the ability to hold a team accountable while keeping the shop productive and safe. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shop Leadership & Scheduling
- Lead and guide A&P mechanics; direct the Piston Shop's day-to-day work activity.
- Schedule shop work and manage technician assignments to match workload and priorities.
- Manage projects to ensure schedule attainment and adherence to budget.
- Identify and break down barriers causing schedule delays.
- Aid in troubleshooting, answer technical questions, and help find solutions to keep maintenance projects and technicians on task.
- Direct team members to stay on task and complete work in the most efficient manner.
Quality, Compliance & Accountability
- Review and approve completed work orders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant FAA regulations.
- Communicate company goals and project expectations clearly to employees.
- Handle conflict among employees and drive accountability to company metrics.
Customer & Cross-Functional Communication
- Communicate with customers regarding scheduling, maintenance status, squawk approval, and invoicing.
- Communicate cross-functionally with shipping, receiving, parts, HR, and other company leadership as required.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience.
- Minimum 3 years of piston aircraft maintenance experience.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required.
- Inspection Authorization (IA) required.
- Must be able to relocate to North Platte, NE 69101 prior to starting work.
