Job Purpose: The Fire Management (FM) Base Manager - Sacramento reports and is responsible to the Operations Program Manager and is responsible for all activities at our Sacramento, California base, including financial oversight; operational scheduling; personnel management; customer relations; and aircraft maintenance status. This critical role requires a professional with expertise in either aircraft maintenance or piloting, as the selected candidate will periodically perform, in addition to their managerial duties, either pilot or mechanic duties to support mission activity requirements.

Job duties include:
- Overseeing the base's financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting
- Coordinating pilot and mechanic schedules to optimize operational efficiency
- Maintaining high customer satisfaction levels through effective communication and issue resolution
- Ensuring compliance with aircraft maintenance schedules, regulatory requirements, and company policies and procedures
- Collaborating with other departments to streamline base operations and enhance service delivery
- Leading and guiding base staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Travelling to company headquarters in Bridgewater, VA for one week each quarter for professional development training and corporate leadership alignment
Qualified applicants will:
- Possess a valid FAA aircraft mechanic or pilot certificate and meet qualification requirements of FAA Part 135 for either a pilot or mechanic.
- Pilots must meet the following experience and qualifications, listed in Part 135.243 PIC under IFR:
- 1500 hours total time
- 1200 hours PIC in an airplane
- 200 hours PIC multi-engine land
- 100 hours PIC ME fixed wing in the last 12 months
- 200 hours PIC flying low level in mountainous terrain at 2500 feet AGL and below terrain identified as mountainous in 14 CFR 95.11 and depicted in the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) figure 5-6-5
- 200 hours PIC night
- 500 hours PIC cross-country
- 50 hours PIC instrument in flight
- 75 hours PIC instrument simulated
- 25 hours PIC total time in Beechcraft King Air make and model
- 10 hours PIC in Beechcraft King Air make and model in the last 12 months
- Have demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance or piloting, with a comprehensive understanding of aviation operations.
- Possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Have excellent organizational skills, problem-solving capabilities, and attention to detail
- Be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Be proficient in FAA regulations and industry best practices
- Be available to work irregular hours and travel as necessary to support base operations
Exceptional candidates will:
- Possess or be able to attain an FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) within 6 months of hire
- Possess an associate or bachelor’s degree, or 6-10 years of equivalent work experience
- Have experience with Chrome River, Dayforce, and Pentagon ERP systems
Job Experience: Demonstrated performance in managing a small aircraft fleet (4-12 aircraft) and effectively leading pilots and mechanics. Demonstrated experience managing budgets and properly reading and interpreting financial reports.
