Avionics Technician III
Location - California, MD (Pax River Naval Base)
- Performs aircraft maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, and modification of aircraft electrical/avionics systems.
- Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.
- Possess a high degree of expertise of aircraft electrical/avionics systems including communications security (COMSEC)
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications, and special tools and test equipment
- Must be familiar with operational capabilities and limitations of electrical/avionics systems
- Possess a thorough working knowledge of the detection, prevention and treatment of corrosion
- Performs the troubleshooting and rewiring of complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems discrepancies and modifications
- Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required
- Estimates and accesses damage of avionics/electrical components/systems as related to crash and mishap damaged aircraft to include repair and/or replacement, man-hours, parts, components, and materials
- When assigned to the flight line, provide customer support during launch and recovery and aircraft security as required.
- Completes maintenance documentation accurately using OOMA, and required forms, as required by job assignment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 years' experience in a primary MOS from any of the following OccFlds: 6323 Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services or possess valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification
- Must show proficiency in the use of OOMA within 90 days after assignment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have held a Collateral Duty inspector (CDI) designation on Military Aircraft or 4 years FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) experience
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and base access.
- Prior CDQAR preferred
- USN/USMC experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass fit for work physical and/or drug test as required.
- Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, to include working overhead.
- Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flightline.
- Must be able to man and perform Flightline Extinguisher duties.
- If required must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate Powered Industrial Trucks.
- If required must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 - 4 hours.
- If required must be able to perform confined space activities.
- Travel may be required.
