The Aviation division has an opening for a Pilot IV or Pilot V positions to serve the great state of Texas, flying our fleet of business jets, turbo prop, or piston aircraft. We are a PART 91 on call flight program and will fly weekdays/nights, weekends and holidays as needed by the state of Texas.

Position Description
Pilot IV
Salary Grade B29 $101,860 - $172,272 Annually
Performs advanced aviation-related work. Primary responsibilities include piloting all aircraft in the Department’s fleet and providing transport services for passengers and cargo. Work also involves planning and coordinating aeronautical operations. Work requires extensive and overnight travel. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Pilot V
Salary Grade B30 $112,047 - $189,499 Annually
Performs highly advanced aviation-related work. Primary responsibilities include piloting all aircraft in the Department’s fleet and providing transport services for passengers and cargo. Work also involves planning and coordinating aeronautical operations. Work requires extensive and overnight travel. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties:
Pilot IV
- Acts as pilot in command on high-profile and complex missions and flight operations.
- Oversees and supports aviation standard operating procedures (SOP) development and compliance.
- Provides guidance and support to less experienced pilots.
- Oversees the development and implementation of training programs. and safety initiatives.
- As required, assists with emergency operations by airlifting equipment, supplies and/or people.
- Compiles and prepares necessary reports.
- Coordinates and schedules flight plans with applicable flight service staff and maintains flight records.
- Inspects condition of aircraft and maintains records pertaining to operation of aircraft.
- Maintains flight skills and stays updated on aviation developments, industry standards, and relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Operates radio equipment aboard airplane.
- Operates single- and multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft to transport passengers and designated goods.
- Reads applicable advisory notices, obtains weather data and interprets/applies data based on flight plan, as required adjusts schedules and routes.
- Responsible for and ensures safe operation of aircraft and safety of passengers, crew and support staff; as required, administers first aid to others.
- May perform other duties such as: flight operations, maintenance management, aviation safety, pilot training and drone operations.
- May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members’ career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Pilot V
All of the above and:
- Advises on aviation program development.
- Serves as pilot training, safety, and operations officer and assists Chief Pilot/Section Director as directed.
- Acts as pilot in command on high-profile and complex missions.
- Leads safety and operational audits.
- Coordinates with law enforcement and emergency response.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education (all levels): High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
Experience: Military fixed-wing or corporate flight experience may substitute for required flight hours or years of experience. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications. Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent.
Pilot IV - 7 years of piloting experience, including at least 3,500 hours total flight time, 1000 multi-engine fixed wing, and 500 hours multi-engine turbine fan as Pilot in Command (PIC).
Pilot V - 8 years piloting experience, including 4,000 hours total flight time, 1,500 hours multi-engine fixed wing, and 1,000 hours
fixed wing multi-engine turbo fan as pilot in command (PIC).
Licenses and Certifications (all levels):
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Pilot-Aircraft-Commercial, SEL*
- Pilot-Airline Transport, MEL*
- Cert Flight Instructor (CFI)*
- CE 680/680A type-200 hours PIC
- Must be type rated in a turbine multi engine fixed wing turbo fan/prop aircraft
- FCC Radio Operators License
- First Class Medical Cert
*All flight licenses and certificates must be issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Additionally, must possess a First-Class Airman Medical Certificate issued under Part 67 of the FAA regulations.

Pilot V
Greater skill and experience in all of the above.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Subject to environmental conditions; protection and no protection from weather and not temperature changes
Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 or above 100 degrees for more than one hour
Subject to noise, vibration and hazards including moving vehicles and mechanical parts, high places and heat, and chemicals
Subject to atmospheric conditions-fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, including possible skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids
Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device
Works frequently in small/crawl spaces; manholes; areas that can cause claustrophobia as well as narrow aisles and passageways
Medium work - Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
Climbing and Balancing - ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps, various surfaces, etc
Stooping and Crouching - bending body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine
Kneeling and Crawling - resting/moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet
Standing - prolonged periods of time
Walking - moving on foot to accomplish tasks: long distance/from one work site to another
Pulling/Pushing - using upper extremities to press/pull against object with force to move in a direction
Fingering/Grasping/Feeling - manipulating objects with the hand/palm/fingers
Talking and Hearing - expressing/perceiving sound at normal speaking levels; receive information by oral communication
Repetitive Motion - substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close Visual Acuity - work includes visual inspection of small defects/parts, measurement devices, computer screen, data/figures, extensive reading
Visual Acuity - determine work quality/make general observations of facilities/structures
