What Will You Be Doing?


The Sr. Manager, Flight Operations AQP (Non-Pilot) is responsible for development, implementation and certification of Advanced Qualification Programs for pilot, instructor, and evaluator training in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations using best practices of instructional system design.


Essential Functions


  • Responsible for development, implementation, and approval of AQP at Frontier Airlines for pilots, instructors, and evaluators as delegated by the Director, Flight Ops Training.
  • Develop and maintain required documentation of AQP policies and procedures.
  • Manage and execute AQP in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Collaborates with the FAA and serves as subject matter expert for internal and external audits.
  • Establish Instructional Systems Design Methodology for curriculum development.
  • Implements innovative methods and technologies into the development of efficient training.
  • Analyze and evaluate department internal and external audits to ensure program supports operational complexities and risks.
  • Works closely with the Director, Flight Operations Training on curriculum development.
  • Implement systematic approach for assessing and documenting identified items through the SMS for integration into AQP.
  • Conduct, analyze, and submit training data as required for FAA reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage required FAA communications including but not limited to Quarterly and Annual standardization meetings.
  • Correspond and coordinate with internal groups, FAA, ALPA and other organizations as required.
  • Establish and manage a team to execute AQP.

Other Functions


·        Must show enthusiasm and a passion for aviation, transferring knowledge, and for the Frontier Brand.


  • Cross-departmental organization and leadership.
  • Coordinate with training and standards team for trend analysis and risk assessment.
  • Track safety trends and recommendations.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Administers the SMS in area of responsibility. Identifies hazards and assesses safety risks, including change management.
  • Ensures the effectiveness of safety risk controls
  • Promotes safety.
  • Advises upper management of the performance of the SMS and any need for improvement.

Qualifications


  • Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience - required
  • Experience with the development and management of 14 CFR 121 Air Carrier Training and Evaluation Programs
  • Minimum 2 years training experience in Transport Category Aircraft – preferred
  • Have knowledge of FAA AQP documents (e.g., AC 120-54, FAR Subpart Y, 8900.1 Vol 3, Chap 21)
  • At least five (5) years of experience in developing AQP systems with at least two AQP programs in Phase IV of AQP - required
  • Experience with Small Group Tryouts as mandated by AQP – preferred
  • Experience with Data Analysis and Reporting Systems – required
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Appropriate Airman and Aircraft certification
  • Experience working with the FAA and other regulatory agencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in MS Office with emphasize on Excel
  • Experience with project management
  • Knowledge of MINT TMS - preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly as well as draft correspondence in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to establish a good rapport with internal clients and vendors
  • Excellent telephone, administrative and record keeping skills
  • Must present a professional image
