Job DescriptionLockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Avionics/Software Chief Engineer to support the avionics and software development efforts for all Integrated Fighter Group (IFG) software products, including Air Vehicle, Mission Systems, Ground Systems, partner, and supplier software products to ensure software compliance with established software development processes. The selected candidate will report directly to the F-16 Chief Engineer Senior Manager and will be responsible for advocating and overseeing software process, documentation and product quality and integrity across the software development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation testing, and fielding activities for complex software systems. The ideal candidate will be an agile leader and innovator in iterative software development and capability delivery.
• Serve as the Software Chief Engineer for F-16 software products for core mission computers and subsystems, leading a team of software engineers in the development and implementation of innovative software solutions
• Serve as the Avionics Chief Engineer for F-16 Avionics subsystem requirements and interface to LM software products
• Ensure that appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development lifecycle and seek opportunities to improve software process and product quality and integrity
• Ensure software products are in compliance with security/export requirements
• Ensure aircraft core software products and avionics subsystems software products are correctly partitioned and take full advantage to avionics subsystem hardware’s capabilities
• Ensure compliance to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics software process Requirements
• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure software process compliance across the software development lifecycle
• Communicate effectively with, and exert influence over software teams to drive software quality, safety, security and ensure alignment with overall business objectives
• Provide direct interface with the F-16 SPO engineering team
• Develop and implement innovative strategies and adopt new technologies to improve software development processes
• Oversee the design, development, documentation, testing and fielding of complex software systems
• Review, provide input for, and approve F-16 Software Development Plans and Software Maintenance Plans
• Co-chair F-16 Common Problem Report (CPR) review boards
• Support review and development of F-16 System Engineering Procedures.
• Review and approve F-16 Change Requests and Equipment Operational Flight Certifications (EOFCs)
• Lead Software Product Manager and Software Product Acquisition Manager collaboration
• Ensure that Management Status Reviews (MSRs) are held for all software teams
• Coordinate external agency audits of software processes and products
• Collaborate across Aeronautics seeking opportunities to lead the IFG software engineering alignment with 1LMX
The selected candidate must be a US Citizen and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (including an investigation within the last 6 years).
The candidate must possess a DoD Top Secret clearance and must be able to obtain a SAP/SAR clearance.
Basic Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Thorough knowledge of software engineering, system engineering, and management principles
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience in a formal or informal leadership role
• Experience in agile software development and capability delivery
• Experience with complex software systems design, development, and testing
• Experience with software architecture and management principles
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and exert influence over software teams
• Ability to collaborate and identify solutions to resolve software process issues across a broad stakeholder base
Desired skills• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• System Engineering experience and/or INCOSE certification
• Experience with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics or related aerospace and defense industry
• Experience with Air Vehicle, Mission Systems, and Ground Systems development
• Experience with partner/supplier software product development
• Experience with Quality Assurance (QA) processes and root cause analysis
• Experience leading software engineering alignment across multiple teams and organizations

Ability to work remotelyPart-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedule InformationLockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate:The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $159,600 - $305,900. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
