COMPANY: The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) DATE:
POSITION: Manager, Flight Training Programs
Support AOPA's programs, events, and initiatives related to
growing the pilot population. Lead program development,
management, and coordination. Communicate and
collaborate with internal and external stakeholders,
including AOPA members, aviation associations, flight
training providers, prospective pilots, student pilots, and
aviation enthusiasts.


•Manage the MyFlightTraining program, including
development of enhancements for the Flight Training
website that effectively engage and support students in
flight training.

•Develop programs designed to improve the flight training
experience, manage consultants as necessary, and
provide assistance to the AOPA Foundation to secure the
required financial support.

•Engage the aviation community and improve external
communication through relationship management, as well
as meeting and event design, coordination, and staffing.
Manage the annual AOPA Flight Training Summit, Flight
School Business receptions at major aviation events, and
AOPA-hosted regional meetings.

•Write online and print stories, internal memos, and
responses to member inquiries and proposals related to
flight training.

•Support AOPA's efforts to grow the pilot population with
internal production request coordination, online content
management, schedule monitoring, and budget tracking.


•Four to six years of related professional experience

•Bachelor's degree in aviation, education,
communications, business, or marketing

•A current FAA Flight Instructor certificate

•An in-depth understanding of the primary flight training
process, including effective methods for recruiting and
retaining students

•Experience in flight school business operations strongly

•Experience utilizing web content, interactive media, and
social networking tools for program engagement and
promotion preferred

•Event management experience preferred

•Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication

•Strong project and time management skills

•Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and

•Ability to travel overnight on approximately eight to ten trips
a year
