Position Summary: The General Manager oversees all facets of the local operations including negotiating and managing ground-handling agreements, providing leadership, and representing JetBlue Airways in the local community.
Essential Functions: * Trains, mentors, and develops Customer Service Crewmembers * Oversees the budget of the station and develops cost savings ideas * Oversees daily flight operations to meet Company performance goals * Participates in airport authority activities as well as attends regular airport meetings * Resolves customer service complaints and issues as they arise * Performs ad hoc requests by BlueCity Manager or Director * Liaises with local airport agencies and governmental agencies * Responds to security and airline emergencies involving JetBlue Airways * Directs preparation of work schedules to obtain optimum utilization of human resources and facilities * Coordinates activities of Customer reservations and ticketing, customer service, ramp and cargo services, provisioning and dispatching of aircraft to ensure the operation meets Company and government policies and regulations * Directs preparation of Customer lists, manifests, and plans for stowage of cargo and baggage aboard aircraft * Evaluates training and performance records of Crewmembers to determine and formulate training designed to increase Crewmember efficiency
Interactions:
Supervision Received: * Plans, designs, and carries out programs, projects, studies, or other work independently.
Supervisory Duties: * Trains, assigns work to, and checks work of two (2) or more Crewmembers; participates in the decision to hire, fire, and promote Crewmembers; does not conduct the same work as Crewmembers on a regular basis.
Crewleader Responsibility: * Customer Service Crew * Customer Service Supervisors Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: * High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma * University Degree preferred but not required * Two (2) years airline experience * One (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role * One (1) year as a General Manager in a Part 121 Domestic or Flag Scheduled Passenger Airline preferred but not required * Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record that meets JetBlue Airways' insurance standards * Regular attendance and punctuality * Organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion * Pass a ten (10) year background check (may include credit check) and medical test * Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located * When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent organizational and planning skills * Proficiency in Advance Passenger Information System (APIS), Custom and Border Patrol (CBP) and local governmental international procedures * Ability to work under pressure and fixed time constraints * Excellent multitasking skills * Ability to lead a team * Ability to think creatively * High proficiency in English both written and oral
Working Conditions:
Equipment: * Computer and other office equipment * Ground service equipment, hand held radios, scanners, light emitting diode screens and signs, mail and cargo equipment
Work Environment: * Office and airport environment * Subject to irregular operations * Ability to work weekends or irregular shifts * Subject to weather and elevated noise levels * Subject to be on call twenty-four (24) hours a day
Physical Effort: * Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently (Light)
