Job Description WestJet has a new and exciting opportunity that would allow you to be part of the Q400 Regional start up team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an entrepreneurial type individual, to help build and launch a new airline for a growing and progressive organization.
This position will be WestJet’s Regional designated Flight Attendant Manager as required by the Canadian Aviation Regulations and will oversee the Regional Inflight department’s strategic plan while inspiring a dedicated group of Flight Attendants to deliver WestJet’s remarkable guest experience.
Responsibilities: Responsible for the professional standards of the flight attendants Ensure a current and approved Flight Attendant Manual and Training program are in place, including the maintenance of Flight Attendant training records in accordance with CARs Oversee flight attendant training in accordance with approved flight attendant training programs Issue directives and bulletins to flight attendants as required Develop and oversee regulatory requirements of the safety features card. Assume responsibilities delegated by the Operations Manager Implement effective corrective actions to eliminate/reduce the risk of the cause(s) or probably causes(s) of hazards, incidents and accidents identified under the safety Management System Liaise with Transport Canada and other related regulatory bodies to maintain and protect the airlines interests with respect to current regulatory requirements and in the event of pending or new legislations affecting Inflight. Develop and oversee the Inflight department strategic plan in alignment with the corporate objectives, budget and key performance indicators Develop a high performing and accountable leadership team through coaching, mentoring and training Build a strong and sustainable working relationship with the Regional Flight Attendant Association Board to ensure the needs of flight attendants are understood and met while meeting the business needs of the Regional operation as they relate to the Inflight department Responsible for best practices related to crew management and employee engagement to ensure an informed, engaged and high performing frontline team Responsible for the quality of service delivery of the Inflight guest experience and alignment and integration with the WestJet vision to Create a Remarkable Experience (CARE) Responsible for the department’s operational performance and integration of Inflight operations in to the overall WestJet operating environment and strategy Will be required to demonstrate to Transport Canada that they meet the requirements identified in Paragraph 725.07 (2)(d) of the Commercial Air Service Standards. Must certify as a flight attendant and fly as required Industry Experience/Qualifications:
Past airline industry required 10 Years leadership experience required Previous regulatory experience and knowledge is strongly desired which includes a solid understating of the Aeronautics Act, Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards as they relate to a 705 operator A university degree is preferred, coupled with demonstrated expertise in a leadership function Experience should include increasing leadership responsibilities culminating in either a senior manager or director level position Must possess excellent leadership skills with a track record of developing and inspiring a high performing, customer service oriented team. Have a commanding presence and be a dynamic and motivational leader Must excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment, with a high degree of motivation and commitment to working with a team in the unique WestJet culture Proven skills performance management, budget planning, and project management with a minimum of one year in each Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet work schedules, standards and deadlines in a fast paced and ever changing environment Superior communication (written and verbal), presentation, facilitation and interpersonal skills. A proven ability to remain focused, positive and productive during stressful situation Candidates must be creative thinkers, with an ability to translate best practices research into strategy Candidates must be excellent problem solvers, with strong analytical skills Proven leadership, management, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to mentor a team of high performers Strong business acumen with the ability to integrate Human Resource strategy to support the business Must have demonstrated ability to quickly build strong and lasting working relationships in a complex stakeholder environment We would like to thank all applicants in advance for sending in their resumes.
