Position Purpose:
Manage the Gulfstream Technical Publications Business unit to
ensure financial objectives are obtained to meet organizational
goals while ensuring customer satisfaction, corporate objectives
and industry standards are attained and maintained with all
internal and externally produced products. Manage all vendors
relationships to ensure delivery of material are within budget and
schedule.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
1) Direct several subordinates and staff. Develop goals and
objectives for subordinates. Prioritize workload. Make decisions to
hire or terminate, train in methods and procedures, conduct
performance appraisals, counsel employees and make other
personnel decisions as required.

2) Develop strategic and tactical budgets covering manpower,
fixed assets, non-salary and direct travel. Monitor and control
expenditures. Estimate and obtain resources and identify cost-
reduction opportunities.

3) Assign tasks to project and functional group personnel and
provide the necessary supervision to meet schedules and fulfill
requirements.

4) Manage the Technical Publications staff that is responsible for
development and revising of aircraft critical manuals.

5) Work with Airworthiness and Certifications Department,
Reliability and Maintainability Group to ensure the FAA/JAA
requirements, standards, approvals, and schedule are met in the
Inspection Schedule for all Gulfstream aircraft models.

6) Oversee the development and sustaining effort for proper
maintaining FAA/JAA Chapter 5 Inspection Programs are properly
complied with and documented by subordinate personnel.

7) Work with major suppliers to Gulfstream to ensure existing and
new aircraft development program meet or exceed Technical
Publications requirements for standard and data transfer.

8) Work with Program Offices upper management and Design Build
Teams (DBT) Leads to ensure that Technical Publications
development of all new manual suites are properly planned for all
new programs in a cost efficient and result oriented methodology.
Ensure that Technical Publications personnel are trained, staffed,
and equipped to develop manuals utilizing any new technology or
processes.

9) Oversee the sustaining and enhancement of Technical
Publications publishing software. Recommend changes to upper
management on acquisition of new software applications, as
required, to maintain the departments competitive position in the
market place.

10) Manage the corporations contractual obligation to sustain
Hamilton-Sunstrand manuals or other similar obligations with a
third party technical writing vendor

11) Manage and expand the departments outsourcing program of
legacy aircraft manuals to a third party technical writing vendor.

12) Work with unit Business Office to ensure that department profit
center to ensure annual financial objectives are met in both
revenue and margin

Additional Functions:
1) Monitor industry trends to ensure that Gulfstream Technical
Publications Department maintains its position in industry customer
surveys. Make recommendations to management on technical or
procedure changes to maintain Gulfstream current position

2) Benchmark on an annual basis other OEMs and suppliers to
ensure that Gulfstream Technical Publications Departments
technology and processes remain ahead of its competition.

3) Research opportunities for outsourcing legacy manuals.

4) Attend technology conferences as required to maintain this
competitive edge.

5) Daily contact with other departments and vendors to exchange
job-related information.

6) Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
1) Basic knowledge of business management functions with
emphasis on contractual, marketing, and product development
aspect of technical publications in a complex and competitive
aerospace market place.

Unique Skills Required:
Individual should have an excellent knowledge of current
publications trends, use of S1000D, ATA standards, and Right
Hemisphere.

Experience/Education Required:
- Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent combination of
education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the
essential functions of the job.Seven (7) years related experience
to include five (5) years of supervisory experience.
