Position Description  
Performs other than piloting essential in-flight duties on
experimental, engineering, production, ferry, repositioning, and
other flights. Assists the pilot during flight as a technical operating,
decision-making, and performing flight crew member. Analyzes
and troubleshoots discrepancies. Functions as a part of the
minimum operating crew when designated by regulatory or other
government documents in cases when the aircraft may not be
operated without the professional services of the flight crew
member. Makes decisions regarding aircraft systems, weapons
systems, flight environment, suitability for operation, and safety,
and coordinates these decisions with the pilot(s) during flight.
Develops engineering and flight crew member solutions to
technical ground and in-flight operational problems requiring
originality and extensive experience on multiple aircraft models or
types. . Demonstrates that aircraft meets production standards
prior to delivery. Applies specialized systems operational expertise
to develop and apply new and emerging technologies. Attends
Engineering meetings to assist in development of sustaining and
follow-on aircraft design operation and configuration work.
Evaluates system upgrades to facilitate product improvements.
Performs ground and flight tests at offsite locations. Interacts with
customers and regulatory agencies to ensure that modifications or
repairs meet contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.
Provides technical guidance to engineering and support personnel.
Integrates and coordinates flight operations activities with other
organizations. Represents the company at conferences with
customers, vendors, and subcontractors. Job requires military
qualification as appropriate to the assignment. Works under
general direction.

Typical Education/Experience  
Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience,
a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work
experience or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.  

Other Job related information  
Must be a graduate of the U.S. Army CH-47 Flight Engineer
Instructors Course. Prefer 5 to 8 years company or related
industry experience. Desired, 1000 hours of Flight Engineer time in
the CH-47 series of aircraft. Must have the ability to obtain a FAA
(Federal Aviation Administration) Class 2 Flight Physical prior to
hiring.
