Description Participates in creating, maintaining, and supporting maintenance programs for aircraft turbine engines and airframes. Monitors and maintains fleet reliability by developing corrective action programs for chronic or repetitive problems. Analyzes performance data to identify corrective items through trend and root cause analysis. Determines economic feasibility, develops repairs and repair processes of existing unserviceable aircraft and turbine engine hardware as required. Supports Field Maintenance and Technical Services personnel in resolving problems with aircraft Systems/Power Plants, manuals, or parts. Produces engineering support data and paperwork as required. This may include engineering orders, fleet campaigns, or other data as directed. Exhibits leadership and self-confidence to maintain a professional image and a good working relationship with all personnel. Responsible for line maintenance and technical services engineering support of systems, avionics, and other equipment on all aircraft fleet types. Coordinates with Flight Department on various operational tasks and shared responsibilities. Provides engineering direction and support to the engine program with support on repairs, assembly, inspection, and test of engines, component parts, and accessories. Coordinates engineering efforts with OEM's and outside repair sources. Reviews all operational data collected in reliability program to assure proper ATA coding of information. Reviews and executes ESM revisions as required. Coordinates corrective items with appropriate internal groups, maintenance providers, or vendors. Initiates corrective actions internally to engineering and externally through other groups. Evaluates maintenance program adjustments (trend analysis). Verifies corrective action effectiveness in conjunction with reliability analysts’ data. Participates in the development of new analysis methods as well as the development and publishing of reliability data as required by the analyst. Works with other airline groups on special issues and projects/presentations. Also, works with the safety department on operational concerns.
Requirements Ideal candidate will have a BS or MS degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. Other suitable experience may supersede this requirement for an Engineering Degree. Training with Six Sigma or related and an Airframe and Powerplant Certificate is preferred. Extensive knowledge and experience in systems aircraft structures, power plant and/or systems engineering and life cycle management with progressive experience in analyzing, designing, developing, integrating, and testing engineering solutions for major airlines systems, subsystems, and equipment. Three to seven years of experience in aircraft or power plant engineering or related experience is preferred. Must be proficient in the following computer software programs/applications: Outlook, SABRE, DASH, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, FTP (technology), Adobe Frame Maker, and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Other various software and technologies may be necessary.
