BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: Ensure InFlight Services meetsall Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)and Transportation Security Regulations (TSRs) and to coordinate these compliance requirements with other departments. Act as key interface with the FAA Cabin Safety Inspector; develop and maintain a strong, positive working relationship. Analyze and research cabin safety issues and then develop summary presentations and make sound recommendations based on findings. Investigates and responds to letters of investigation and FAA inquiries. Processes Inflight self-disclosures to FAA. Participates in aircraft induction process. Represents InFlight Regulatory Compliance with all new security requirements (i.e., ensures compliance and develops appropriate policies/procedures). Conducts periodic enroute audits of charter flights. Conducts periodic audits of regulatory topics in Charter, GSC and CSR training. Interfaces with AWA Operations Regulatory Compliance and Safety Department. Ensures InFlight management team is current on FARs and TSRs; ensures compliance is maintained and takes corrective action when necessary. Acts as point of contact to FAA Cabin Safety Inspector. Conducts various audits on critical and routine areas of importance, including all InFlight regulatory processes, charters, event reporting, manual currency boards, exit seating procedures, carry-on baggage, and general flight attendant compliance with FARs. Writes audit reports, FAA responses, and internal responses regarding regulatory compliance and safety issues. Contributes to InFlight and other department newsletters and employee briefs. Directs and facilitates all aspects of special interest/problem areas for satisfactory improvement and compliance (e.g., Charter Project, Exit Seating Program, and Intoxicated Passenger Program). Completes ad-hoc regulatory-compliance-related projects, including disruptive passenger process, smoking ban violation process, carry-on baggage compliance program, event reporting flow, DOT auditor program, cabin safety and FAA audit program. Maintains and revises FAA-approvedAWA Exit Seating Program to include updating manual. Oversees alcohol-related event reporting process; chooses cases for FAA investigation. Participates in Emergency Response Team, InFlight ECC Committee, and ATA Cabin Operations Committee. Represents Inflight Department in all internal safety and regulatory cross-over meetings. Participates in Flight Attendant New Hire, Recurrent and Recall training classes. Analyzes cabin safety trends and disseminates summary information to appropriate departments. Conducts thorough research of cabin safety and other safety issues pertinent to flight attendants. Prepares responses to Flight Attendant Irregularity Reports regarding cabin safety and regulatory issues. Participates in the safety debrief process. Represents InFlight with regards to Engineering Service Requests. Acts as InFlight representative to MedAir. Analyzes flight attendant OJI incidents and recommends cabin environment improvements based on sound research and data analysis. Analyzes and quantifies onboard passenger medical emergencies. Interfaces with AFA on cabin safety issues. Develops and implements programs designed to protect the health and safety of flight attendants and passengers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Superior knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations & Transportation Security Administration Regulations Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience /training Flight attendant experience or InFlight management experience Experience acting as department liaison with various internal departments, other airlines, and government regulatory agencies Excellent analytical thinking abilities, with demonstrated effective capabilities in data collection, research, report/presentation preparation, and problem resolution Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively interface with employees at all levels within the organization as well as external agencies Proficient with Microsoft Office software and other applicable programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Maestro) Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; Ability to multi- task, reprioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment Ability to balance applying regulations to company processes without unnecessary burden to company
